I am not usually writing reviews but Chez Helmut impressed me in a very good manner with the friendliness of the owners and the lovely nature of the place. I arrived with my girlfriend both very late for lunch (most restaurants would have the kitchen closed at 15:30) and same goes for the evening (around 22:00). Each time, despite being the only ones that still wanted to eat then, the owner cooked us something and did not turn us down. I would always return with pleasure to this place where I felt welcome and where I was not left to starve despite my late hunger:)

Helmut totally saved the day! We arrived in Alsace from a long roadtrip and had already been refused by the two restaurants in the village where we were sleeping because it was 9pm and the kitchen was closed. We looked for other places in the neighbouring villages and Chez Helmut not only was open, but the owner welcomed us with open arms, suggested a nice local wine and made us some delicious tartes flambees. Everything was delicious, and the atmosphere was excellent. Highly recommended if you're in the area!
Cosy place, good ambiance, food is value for money
We rent the Gite every summer for a week and eat at ChezHelmut when we can. He is an eccentric and entertaining host and I have a lot of time for him and his family. I always look forward to returning.

Absolutely brilliant, best choucroute of the region, and the tarte flambé was extremely well made.
Stayed for a week with family, and ate at the restaurant downstairs - roomy, light, well equipped flat, friendly and helpful staff, lovely food, great wine, right in the centre of a typical Alsace village. Kids welcome, gluten free not on the menu, but staff were well informed and happy to cater for it.
