The juxtaposition of the Roman ruins with the surrounding modern buildings is quite striking. The old Roman ruins are quite charming, albeit a bit hard to get to from the street. We saw them because of the lovely view from a window in the Museum of London. We took some great photos and had a great time exploring and learning about “Londinium” and the romans who inhabited it.

This possibly the longest remaining uninterrupted stretch of the original 3rd.Century ragstone Roman Wall fortifications, covered by subsequent fabric/brick additions This a segment of the “Roman Wall of London” residue walkabout. Heritage narrative boards elucidate and illustrate the terrain/route.

I decided to take a longer stroll to Liverpool Street station and enjoy the sunshine, and found these old Roman ruins. These are really interesting and historic, and a great way to relax after a long day in the city. Definitely worth a wander on a sunny day.

The City of London is a great place to visit to get an impression of Roman Londonium. Go to the fort ruins AFTER you visit the City of London Museum, you will appreciate it more if you do.
