Easy hike across an idillyc area, a stream runs along the path and high trees offer a lot of shade. The path is 1.5 km from the entrance to the upper valley and it took us 40 minutes to the top. There is only one species of butterflies (actually a moth), but still interesting to watch as they fly around you and they cover the rocks and trees! There is also a crab species endemic to this area only, you can see it if you watch carefully inside the small lake! After you make it to the top, go further up to see the small Monastery of Kalopetra and enjoy the beautiful views!

If you want to experience nature in its own beauty go to this place! It’s a relaxing and quiet place. You can see hundreds of butterflies and listen to the river that passes by. The entrance ticket is only 5 per person. I do recommend it
The valley of the butterflies was a nice walk through the forests, however it did not really live up to its name. There were a few spots with plenty of butterflies, but overall it's just a nice spot to walk along a creek. If you got plenty of time in Rhodes, definitely go, but there are better places to go!
Picturesque nature scenes and impressive butterfly views. Tip: Stay still and quiet for some time in the same spot and pay careful attention to the surroundings. You will notice a lot more than most people who quickly and carelessly stroll by.the entire path.
Really great walk in the woodlands and millions of butterflies. Good 5 spent I think ...you can spend hours here, make sure you take water with you as the only other place to buy water is at the end of the trail.
Nice walk next to a river. There weren't any butterflys when we visited (Oct) but the owner said it's not the right season. Make sure to park your car at the main parking and ensure the train from the top is available. We had to hitch hike all the way down.
This valley should be rebranded as "The Valley of the Crabs" which I found plenty in the springs flowing down the slopes. On the other hand from butterflies remained only sad corpses. But that's all right! This is the circle of life and only an uneducated person could rate this attraction one star. Every book about Rhodes informs that butterflies appear there only some months of the year and the lady at the ticket office informed me about that as well. Nevertheless it's a beautiful place to walk through and if you cannot forget having spent 3 and not seeing a single butterfly, to distract yourself try to find crabs on the photos attached.
There was surprisingly large number of butterflies on trees, rocks and well, everywhere, really, even though we were told we'd be lucky to see some as they are a "one day in a year" kind of a thing. It was beautiful and breathtaking to walk through entire forest, walking nearby the small river that runs through the forest. There is a safe path that you take to walk through entire forest and it's not allowed to walk out of it so you don't endanger butterflies on the ground, grass,...
