I had a very informative beginners work shop with Rod last Monday at Airaforce. An interesting day and of course lots to learn. Rod is excellent at teaching the way around a camera and doesn’t mind how many times you ask him to explain something that you have difficulty understanding. Altogether a very enjoyable time.

Inspirational, Rod welcomed two novice photographers into the Lake District and left us with a thirst for much more. I can honestly say I will never look through a viewfinder the same again. From braving to move off the 'P' button to Aperture and Shutter buttons to composition and a story. I couldn't recommend this birthday present more. Thank you Rod.
Rod was amazing! He got me off automatic settings and I haven’t looked back. After one day I am confidently setting up the camera depending on what I want to achieve and what the conditions are! I really feel that I am now in control of my camera and not the camera controlling me. And the pictures speak for themselves! Thank you Rod! It was a great day and we’ll definitely be back .
This course was just what I needed to move me beyond the auto function on my SLR camera. The day, spend in a small group, was a very practical run through better composition and use of aperture and shutter modes. Full of helpful tips and guidance. And all set in the glorious surrounds of Ullswater.
A great day out in the hills, discovering new places and learning how to address things that have been bugging me for years: balancing bright and dark in a photo, nailing the exposure (hurray for the histogram!), using filters, controlling shutter speed while working in Aperture priority.....learned lots and had a cracking day out. Not bad tea either! Rod picked me up from my accommodation and dropped me back at the end of the day. It was a great opportunity to benefit from the experience of a professional on a one to one basis, to be able to ask questions and try things out in such beautiful surroundings. If you're a beginner wanting to advance from auto settings, or an intermediate looking to learn some new tricks and hone some skills, I would really recommend a day with Rod.
