This used to be a great machine shop. Machinist there was top notch when polishing my crank to tight specs. But the last 2 times I have been there have been enough that I won't go back. I took a set of big block chrysler heads down to be magnufluxed and they said one was cracked, no big deal but when I decided to pick them up they hadn't even been cleaned them yet. I don't believe you could do the work without cleaning them. Ok so me being a dummy I still took my 440 block to be machined to .030 over and my crank to be .010 mains and journals. I asked them ahead of time if they use a torque plate and they said yes everytime. Ok great. Well after I payed and received my parts back the engine sat in my garage for 6 months. Not there problem but when I went to tap out the holes in the block 6 of the head bolts had no threads left in the block. I called them up and told him about it and told him they must have used an impact gun on the torque plate, he said they don't use torque plates. Ok, after 600 dollars worth of inserts to repair my block I went to put my crank in and the crank was supposed to be turned .010 mains and .010 rod journals. The crank really only needed to be polished to be used but I thought I would just go the .010. I measured the crank and it was turned .020 rod journals, so a new set of bearings were required. So thanks again Dougans for ruining my sons first engine build then calling him a liar. Never again will I use them. Also after talking with my neighbor an avid racer he said he haid they did the same thing to his crankshaft and they botched a set of hemi heads he had sent them.
