If I could give more stars than 5, I would. One of my favourite places and one I love coming back to year after year. Great walks round abbey and pleasure gardens, out into deer park and over all the bridges. There's a play area for the kids, bird hide, woodland walks, picnic areas, 3 cafes and toilets. Loved watching families make snowmen in April. Loads of wildlife and flowers to discover.

Absolutely tranquil and picturesque, really loved the experience there! Would 100% visit here again. Whether rain or sun or snow this area is beautiful. This is an awesome spot for seeing wildlife. Parking is ample and located 10 meters away and 10 meters next to it Perfect spot!

It is a magical place. Wherel art, history and nature live together in a spectacular balance. It is a place for all the family, so spacious you will think you are alone there at times. A great place for photographers. The kids can run free (just be aware if the water features), adults can have a break on one of the many benches with a view. I love you go there at every season to enjoy the ever changing colours.

Stunning water garden that deserves a few hours to wander around (regardless of neighbouring Fountains Abbey). The catering could be better though as there's only one small tea room with limited options. The Fountains Abbey catering is 1.5 miles away so a bit far.

Nearly missed this one, booked an early timed slot to visit the Abbey not knowing about the water gardens. Can't be seen from the Abbey ruins but can be reached by footpaths either side of the river that runs through the ruins so a circular route clockwise or anticlockwise is available if you choose. If you take the anticlockwise route (river to your left as you head to the gardens) look out for a steep path heading up on your right with a promise of good views and some hidden gems. Follow it all the way through and you come out with great views over the top of the gardens, in its prime with less overgrown trees etc it would have been incredible.

Beautiful, peaceful gardens next to Fountains Abbey. A series of ponds and small lakes were created in the 18th century by daming the stream running through the valley. There are good footpaths all round, so access is easy for pushchairs etc. there are plenty of picnic benches and loads of grassy open space for kids to run around in. The valley sides are steep and wooded but there are some higher paths that can get you up to the top for some great views. There is a nice cafe (closed at the moment due to covid) and toilets near the exit.
