First visit to Drointon although I have had mail order plants in the past. If you love Auricula's then their open days are a must and they are very willing to give advice.

Excellent service they always ensure plants are delivered in the week and not held in shipment over the weekend. What plants! Bought 6 and a couple were ready to divide up so 14 plants for the price of 6. Well packaged fast delivery and you get well grown plants. I'm a repeat customer and haven't lost one of their plants yet, even the spare ones that come attached. Give them a try you won't regret it.
I am biased on this one, so disclaimer in advance (am related to owners). Now that aside; it is one of the largest, if not the largest, Primula Auricula specialists (and sell nothing else!). Holding a border national collection that is planted up for people to come and see, along with hundreds of other cultivars in beds. Alpine, border, edges, selfs, doubles, fancies, are all represented here and sold (although very much a spring flowering plant). If you do order from their website they will communicate with you as each step is done, and will advise happily any new or old customers should they ring asking for advice. Furthermore they will hold off sending plants should the weather be dangerous to the plants for their transit, although will inform if they do this and you can always ask for them to be sent to you regardless. Several times a year holds open days during which the is a café opened in a nearby \log cabin\ with proceeds going to charity. Check their website for information on \drop in days\ as well. Now I am not all sunshine and roses here, and I may get some evil looks from them but; This is located on the back of a farm yard, the ground is gravel with intermittent steps or glass slopes. As such it is not designed to be wheel chair friendly (the benches in the tunnels are at \working\ height so can be hard to see from a wheel chair, or so I have been told). The outside flower beds are accessible via grass areas as such if your wheelchair can traverse grass/gravel you should be fine for the most part. Lastly if it is wet please bare in mind it is a working nursery on a farm and it can get muddy. The is shelter in the tunnels and the cafe but only the cafe is heated, so please bring appropriate clothes.
Excellent Quality Plants - beautifully packed and sent very speedily. I purchased six Double Auricula plants from Drointon Nurseries recently and I just want to say a big Thank You for the way my initial call was handled thro to my receiving the superb quality plants - Altogether a wonderful service. Thank you - I will definitely be buying again.
