Pros. •Friendly staff. •Good training; thorough and all of the training managers are approachable. •The clients are lovely. Cons. •You only get paid for your time at a client’s house - not per hour. •They advertise at 10 an hour but this only applies after 8pm or on weekends, the rest of the time it’s minimum wage. •You are given unrealistic travel times between clients, both if you’re a walker or a driver. •They only pay half your petrol money back. •They will constantly text you to work, even when you’re on holiday. •Double check holiday requests as they are often ‘misplaced’. •Most days involve 12/16 hours with little to no breaks at all. •Lack of communication is horrific. •For a company that promotes person-centred care, they do nothing but treat you as a number.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my late father in law Richard Sutton, Birchwood care agency looked after him in his own home daily for seven years, after a long hospital stay. He really looked forward to their visits, many times regular people would be caring for Richard and he got to know them personally, the care was very good, giving him respect, choice and going that extra mile to help him. The care enabled him to live in his own home in his last stages of life ,which is what he wanted. I can’t praise the staff and carers enough for their dedication and patience they gave him.i can highly recommend this agency to anyone who is looking for care for their loved one. Person centred care staff constantly walk out and new ones walk in for a month max. Not one client has a consistent carer. I dont know one client who doesnt complain, they only stay because they are desperate!! Rotas are never followed and changed. No organisation. Scam you out of wages that much, each employer has to write down exactly what they have worked by the minute!! Any serious issues in life where you need help absolutely no chance. This is a money based company, nothing to do with care for clients or employers. Good luck to future workers and clients.
My mum had carers from birchwood since June. We live near Lincoln. Mum lives in Belper. The carers have been great. They chat to mum, know her foibles( like putting food in the microwave!) and generally have made my life easier plus helping mum out and she enjoys their company. Ladies you're great!
