When they first opened it was a mess. Slow ordering at the touch screen, and food was bland, price was high. These days it’s improved quite a bit. Maybe it’s because of covid and less traffic, but ordering is easy, food arrived quickly. The yuzu ratan is flavourful.

They have great tasting drinks, which were the highlight here. Yuzu limeade and ginger ale were refreshing and fresh tasting. Not generic can soda, thats for sure. However... The ramen and the gyoza were very very average. The buns stuffed with soft shell crab and pork were tasty. Overall, this place has great presentation and concept but average tasting food and above average tasting drinks.

Admittedly was excited to visit Afuri Ramen when I saw the announcement online a couple of months back, finally had a chance to make the trip. Ordering from the kiosk by the entrance is no big deal, if you've ever been to a ramen joint in Tokyo you already know the drill although the \take a number\ system was confusing. Ordered the combo with a bowl of yuzu shio ramen and crispy gyoza. I normally prefer a heartier tonkotsu or tori paitan soup but this soup is light yet surprisingly complex. I'm guessing they're using a \double soup\ approach with a chicken-based broth combined with a katsuo/niboshi dashi and the individual layers really do come through with that delicate yuzu aroma on top. I understand some folks' complaints about blandness although to be fair they're likely holding back on the salt and fat in the tare to avoid overwhelming the broth's balance. The bowl uses thin noodles which complements the overall lightness of the broth. Rounding out the toppings are half an egg, menma, arugula and one piece of grilled chashu. The chashu cut is likely pork shoulder as it's not too fatty and is deliciously grilled. Overall I did enjoy my ramen and it's refreshing to have an option that doesn't make you feel like taking a nap afterwards. The only reservation I have however is the *steep* pricing which affects my overall review of this place. The ramen scene in this city is just WAY too competitive and it's really a shame as there plenty of options out there that are just as good or better for a more competitive price. Hoping the Afuri team can recalibrate their business model and menu pricing so that more folks can enjoy a different yet delicious style of ramen!

Almost no costumers in place ask me to wait 5 minutes bfore i can b sit because their menu its a computer rigth in the door entrance and a couple was already using it. I have chronic pain disability just want to b able to seat quietly and order wich obviously was impossible. When i ask him if at least i can have my table until i can order he wanted me to seat on a temporary chair so I gave up and left even if i was starving and tire. If they can afford to loose costumers in a pandemic time when many restaurants are closing good for them. I will never get back

Great tasting Ramen. Fast service. Side dishes go perfect with the ramen. Love the juice cocktails. Always impressed coming here, making the trek from Coquitlam worth it.
