Stunning memorial to almost 5,000 Indian Soldiers and Labourers who fell in the Great War on the Western Front but who have no known grave. The memorial is very different to all of the other memorials to the missing and is well worth a visit. Neuve Chapelle was chosen as the location for the memorial since it was here that the Indican Corps fought its first major engagement of the war. It has a small off-road parking area. Don't forget to visit the interesting Portuguese Military cemetery situated next to the memorial.

The Neuve-Chapelle Indian Memorial is a World War I Memorial in France, located on the outskirts of the commune of Neuve Chapelle, in depártement of Pas-de-Calais. The memorial commemorates some 4,742 Indian soldiers with no known grave, who fell in battle while fighting for the British Indian Army in the first world war. The location of the memorial was chosen because of the participation by Indian troops at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle.

Serene place. This memorial commemorates over 4700 soldiers and labourers who lost their lives on the Western Front during the First World War and have no known graves. The memorial has an influence from the constructions during the period of Emperor Ashoka. You can find the names of the soldiers written on the walls. Ample free parking spaces available

Another beautiful cemetery. Different from the other cemeteries in this region. Enclosed. No crosses. Names on the wall. Immaculate.
