Hen Penny is fairly new to the Reston/Ashburn area. They opened their doors this past summer and have made headlines with the locals. Their southern style fried chicken is packed with flavor, and juiciness.

Chicken was good, but not very crispy. May return to ask what the freshest is to try that. Good deal for sandwich/side/drink.
Hen Penny chicken sandwich is pretty tasty. I got the HP chicken with bacon combo. Cost me 11 and some change. The sandwich bun was super glossy due to the exess amount of oil and the chicken wasn't the juciest. But all together, it was a pretty tasty sandwich. The pickles stood out the most by adding a sweet and sour taste to the sandwich, and the seasoned bacon on its own was delicious. It added the much needed savory taste to otherwise normal chicken. Hen Penny also offers 4 different sauces on the side which will go great with anything on the menu. I would recommend this place for anyone who's into fried chicken. Or wants something different from chick fil a.
The fried chicken is very tasty and the kids meals are reasonably sized and priced. My one complaint is that the salads are expensive and Tiny; even after adding the chicken at an additional cost it was still far too small and nearly 10, not worth it
The chicken sandwich was good but not crispy. The sauces made up for it but my opinion is that a good sandwich needs to be able to hold its own without needing a sauce. The kids tenders were better than the crispy sandwich. The waffle sticks had potential but were over greasy.
As a forward note, I have somewhat enjoyed the food each time I’ve been here. The main issue is the service. The first time I came here, the employees seemed like they wanted to be anywhere but there. They barely spoke a word, no greeting, no “your welcome” after “thank you”, nothing. They seemed almost lost preparing the food. I decided to give them a second chance about a month later (everyone has bad days), but there was no change. The specialty soft drinks and sauces are good, but every time I’ve been here they are always out of the ones I want to try. The food itself is pretty good, but there is no consistency. Sometimes I’ll get chicken that is well breaded and seasoned, other times the chicken will have sparse breading and not be seasoned at all. My advice: go to chick-fil-a down the road. The food is cheaper, more consistent, arguably just as good if not better, and the service has always been excellent. After two tries with the same result, I don’t think I will be coming here again.
I went here to try it out and got the two pieces of fried chicken with french fries meal. It was supposed to come with a fountain drink but they did not give me the cup. The french fries were just very plain. The chicken also was just okay not bad or good just okay. For what they charge and because they forgot my drink I cannot recommend this place.
Loved visiting this place. Right next to the Hyatt Regency. I loved the taste and hope to try the spicy Nashville flavored chicken next time we are in the area. 4/29/18 We visited again and I had the Nashville chicken sandwich. It was awesome! Wish we had a Hen Penny in our area!
