Great view of the lake, good food

I felt the warmth of home at the end of my journey. The cold darkness of the night couldn't go inside this fortress. I wasn't surprised, nor was I disappointed. I knew the food was awesome, I didn't expect less. I am limited here. This does not seem fair. I may give you 5 stars but it will never equal the galaxy of flavor that was unleashed inside of my mouth. Keep up the good work.

Very good food and great location on the lake.. The staff was friendly but not exceptional, they serve typical food from the region, but as well Kebab etc..

This is one of my favorite restaurant experiences in France. The lake is beautiful, the restaurant setting was great with ample indoor and outdoor (covered) seating options. The food selection had a little of everything at reasonable prices. Menu at 21, 30 and 37 Euro (prices approximate). I highly recommend the quenelle. It is a mixture of fish, egg and breadcrumbs that is poached, then typically toasted under a broiler. The result is a creamy, delicate, bready dish that tastes amazing. The dish is more or less indigenous to the region and Nantua is specifically known for their spin on it: with pike and crayfish tails. The owner of the restaurant was more than accommodating. He did not speak English, but some of the server staff knew enough that it was no problem to order (and I know just enough French to get by). However, I suppose Americans in this part of France--and at this restaurant on a Friday night--are a rare sight because we were treated to multiple Chartreuse on the house while talking to the owner at the bar while preparing to leave. He was very excited to tell us that the restaurant was run by him and his family and that he was very glad that we visited. I will be back.
