A nice way to honor the memories of the millions people who died in the Ukrainian genocide from 1932-1933 engineered by Stalin's troops. The statue itself is called " Bitter memories of childhood " , is a little creepy if you don't know the history behind this beautiful work of art. The surrounding area was beautiful and picturesque as there is a waterway nearby. The university of Regina is within walking distance. There are other statues nearby as well. There is plaques behind the actual statue as well as an inscription on the back near the little girl's feet. Not sure what it says but I will find out and post it later on when I find out.

This statue honours the victims of the Ukrainian genocide that happened in the early thirties when farmers and their families were starved to death by the political leaders of the Soviet Union and their executioners. Saskatchewan was the first Canadian province to recognize this historical event as a genocide. This is an important gesture since there are still numerous countries in the world who idolize Stalin's heritage and refuse to accept the truth. The statue is simple but haunting which is very appropriate. This is also a nice place to sit down and relax while observing ducks and geese in the summer.
