Its a very big flag. Inspires patriotism.
Clean brand new parking lot. Agriculture is maintained well here. There is however a highway right next to it and a senior center on the other side and is attached to a church. The main road does take you down to a dog park. Located just off the highway at what I'd call the the center of Redding. Lots of open space and very windy. It has pink trees, you know the ones with the hundreds of tiny pink petals and with the wind it looks cool to watch them float across the parking lot. This place is maintained on a weekly basis, I never see trash in the parking lot. Most of the car are just employees that work for the retirement home, which was built in the last of couple years. The church that it's connected to has been here since as long as I can remember, they do have a kids playing area and it hold Club Cougar, which is a club for Foothill High School Cougars, although I've never been because I went to Shasta, I have heard good things. This place is well lit, there is a fence around the flag and two short little plaques to read. If you're looking for a place to just sit, relax, and stare at the clouds, then you'll find no better spot than next to our Great American Flag.
I love seeing this huge flag while driving through Redding on I-5. It can also be seen from Park Marina, across the river. The flag is set at half-mast on appropriate days to demonstrate and encourage honor, respect, and/or mourning. I really appreciate seeing this, as it keeps me a little more in touch/aware of the world outside of my personal sphere of influence.

Nice little veterans memorial in a parking lot. It's pretty small but has a flag pole with a giant flag. It's cool and can be seen for miles. The memorial is also home to a pokestop and gym for Pokemon Go players. There are two other pokestops across the parking lot.
A really awesome and special area, the flag is huge too!
