I've worked here on two different occasions and have volunteered a lot of my time to One SAFE Place .. over 10 years! It's the only shelter in the area that offers safety and services to men, women and their children who are facing domestic violence. It has been my passion helping others in crisis situations. Working there was not the best. I loved working with the clients but certain supervisors and a few people who were supposed to be "team players" weren't up to snuff in comparison to more professional business colleagues I have worked with in the past. There are some people that work there who shouldn't be working there and the people that actually want to work there and make a difference are the ones that get treated the worst.

This facility provides help to individuals and families who are victims of abuse. They provide services in house as well as referrals to other facilities and programs. One Safe Place is safe, clean, warm, welcoming, and chock-full of intelligent, hardworking, knowledgeable people ready to help in any way they can. I helped a friend get to OSP, and we were treated with extreme care and understanding. They were able to help my friend get a no contact order very quickly, and also got her in touch with counseling.

I got “patient dumped” there from Mercy summer of 2017. They refused to take me in 7 months pregnant because my abuser was out of state, I was so scared that I walked off and tried to jump off the bridge nearby but thankfully someone stopped me and took me to the ER.

I stayed at One safe space with my child after an abusive relationship. It was the best experience that it could have been. Yes there were some kinks in their system. There were a few bums and drug addicts there. There were some ladies that were just trouble and tried to get other people in trouble and kicked out. This place is no country club! It is a shelter! You get what you put into it. I was there for three months. They gave me and my kid a private room and bathroom, free food and advise on how to get housing. My family was safe. The staff was nice. I was given enough time to get a job, save money and find permanent housing. It was a blessing. If you go there for a free ride and to hang out with ex druggies you can do that easily. But if you want to get your life together so no one can abuse you again or treat you like garbage, you can do that too. It is what you make it. I was able to complete all of my goals and move on with my life and me and my family will be eternally grateful for that.

I have never had a good experience with One Safe Place. I feel they pick and choose who they are helping. I have referred a couple women in crisis to them and have been by their side to help advocate. This place needs to be looked into for being prejudice against ethnic victims of domestic violence. How many ethnic victims are being helped with a place to stay? vs non-ethnic? I did not even want to give this review a single star after the experiences I have had with them . I understand, they do help people. But they should not pick and choose who to help by their appearance. I know that this program is funded by the Tribal Community and other community contributions and it is unfair to witness this organization pick and choose who they will help.
