A very good pub for jolly tars and landlubbers alike. Easy to understand why the navy had difficulties turning our sea dogs out of this Southwold pub to go and fend orf the Dutch.
Just before lockdown number 2 we enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Red Lion. We had booked to eat inside and the appropriate social distancing was strictly adhered to. Entry to the pub was by the NHS app only which was made clear to us upon making the booking. I had a delicious vegetarian spinach and leek risotto. There were plenty of vegetarian options. The service was very efficient and I must mention the Chef who was such fun and brought out the meals himself! Lovely to meet him and made our day! The portions were generous and I took some home for later. The chef made the silver foil containing my leftovers into the shape of a swan!!
The best fish finger sandwich in Southwold? The Red Lion surely has a good shout. Oddly undersold on the menu, the fish finger sandwich here (pictured) is homemade (not just Bird's Eye!) and delicious. I'd personally have liked a little more tartare sauce, but other than that it was near-perfect. The decor is nice (pictured), the prices are fine (fish finger sandwich was 7 and comes with fries and a salad) and the staff were fairly friendly. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it.
Very hygiene friendly . Had a mini fish and chips for 7.50 which was perfect for a lunch snack. Hubby had a pannini which he said was gorgeous. Dig friendly too!
