From start to finish the experience was excellent. This is humble, rustic Italian cuisine amongst the beauty of Red Hill. A really special moment were the zeppole at the start, as they were a childhood favourite from my nonnas kitchen. The hapuka was definitely my favourite dish and the starters were a wonderful selection. My partner has allergies and he was well catered for. Service was excellent, albeit a little slow but you’re supposed to sit and enjoy a long lunch. Don’t come if you’re expecting a quick meal, as you need the time to take it all in.

Staff were nice and overall experience was pleasant, but not at the level competing restaurants in the area offer. Lunch went for nearly 4 hours, with breaks between courses of 30 minutes. Very little communication from staff between courses. We had to ask for our food as we had to leave at 4pm (we started at 12.20pm).Once we asked if we could get our food and also commented about the last course, the service almost shut down. Not great thought put in for special dietary requests. Food went from exceptional to average over the nearly 4 hours. I would describe the food as homely, with great fresh ingredients, but not trail blazing the food industry.
We had a fabulous lunch here today. The food was amazing with plenty of dishes and staff were super friendly. It is one of those places where you feel like you are having 5 star meals but in a homely environment. Highly recommended!
Compared to the other reviews I am sorry we went. The initial service was very poor. Only 2 out of the 5 of us got drinks for 15 or more minutes. The food is good but for 155 per head it is way over priced. It is good Italian country restaurant cooking and had very nice but ‘normal’ plates made from chicken and other less glamorous meats and vegetables. Having just experienced a wonderful Vietnamese meal in Port Melbourne for 55 per head in comparison the price difference to Tedesca is just not reasonable. You will not be able to find a more expensive Italian restaurant in Melbourne and unfortunately (or fortunately) you can get the same quality of food in literally a thousand different Italian restaurants around the greater Melbourne area.
Food was excellent and the restaurant itself was beautiful however the service was a significant let down. Wait staff were rude and elitist and left my mum and I feeling ignored and not welcomed. Such a shame especially given the price tag

What an incredible experience. This restaurant is special. Beautiful grounds, stunning interior and beyond delicious food. Great service from all staff. This place is a MUST and we WILL be back!
