It's being kept predominantly cleaner (except for the north end by the pool and playgrounds), and the boat ramp is nice to have been added, but they STILL haven't rebuilt the south end bathrooms. Which are important, because the north end bathrooms are surrounded by permanent homeless campers and sometimes you have to literally step over a sleeping body to get in one (yes, in the daytime, even). And even when there's clear access, there's so much trash and human waste in the corners that you still can't reasonably go inside. Perhaps they should make a south end bathroom with a card activated lock with the card only being sent to people at a water-bill paying address. That would keep it from getting trashed and/or lived in like the other one.

Relaxing space, the entire length of the park is elevated about 25' higher than the river over looking it. It is lawn from one end to the other with lots of large shade trees, fire pits, restrooms, pool, small stage, basketball court, picnic table's, drinking fountains, boatramps and a pedestrian path that that runs the length of the park along the edge from the chamber of commerce to the pool over looking the Sacramento river. It's peaceful and soothing. I like to go for a dip in the river on a hot day or take some time to play a game of chess at a picnic table. If you bring wood or briquettes you can have a good barbeque. Sundays there is a group that serves lunch, all are welcome. Bring your appetite.

My husband and I went there, on a Sat. morning to enjoy the scenery as we drank our coffee & ate our breakfast burrito. The park was very clean, and we were pleasantly surprised to see that there weren't any homeless people hanging out in groups, nor anyone sleeping on the tables or benches! The new concrete boat launch and fishing area are such a nice improvement!

Open safe, good central location in town. Well patrolled by city police dept. Currently undergoing Renovation. Particularly the free boat launching dock. All new concrete picnic tables. Park grounds run alongside the river. Nice place for family gatherings.
