Love that my family has something like this in our area. I never Kayaked before our first "run" so we paid the extra to have the owner Corey guide us. He was so helpful and made it easy. This has become one of my favorite outdoor activities. I am seriously thinking of buying my own kayak but would definitely still hire Corey to bus us to the start. I recommend wearing shoes and DEFINITELY confirm on the same day as your trip is scheduled.

The Schuylkill river really is a very clean waterway. We went on a Sunday with my wife and 2 kids 11/12. Water flow of the river was still good. We all had a great time. Meet at Canal Street Pub by the bus with logo (no other clear marking). I've never been on this section of river through Reading and it even surprised me how nice. Cory is doing a great job. Also offered to take farther upstream and provide a guide for additional fee(Evan). Finding the pick-up location is a bit of a challenge because I don't know the city of Reading. Once on the water, it all melts away. We dropped in just south of the Rt 183 bridge and floated about 2 hrs through some mild rapids and calm flow water. Few shallow areas but not many. Pass 5 bridges that are really cool to see. would do this trip again.
Always have a really great time, if you are hot, this is awesome way to spend the day. When friends come in to town we like to take them on a run and they are always shocked by something this cool being right in Reading and really enjoy themselves. I like to trent the Kayaks but the tubes are a lot of fun too.
Had an appointment for a 6 of us at 10. We get there at 9:45am. No one to be found, no signs to be found either. After waiting for an hour, a guy shows up. He attempts to get a hold of the owner, no luck after 20 minutes. He leaves to hunt the owner down. At this point my group made the decision to leave. We had wasted enough time in standing in a parking lot. We get a call from the owner at 12:45 asking why didn't we never showed up.
After being informed multiple times that I needed to be there with my entire party at 11 am because the bus was leaving at 11:10, there was no one there when we arrived for our prescheduled and confirmed appointment. I mean... no one! 20 minutes later, a guy who couldn't do anything showed up. He tried to call the guy in charge. His phone went to voicemail. The guy who was there informed us that they had both been out drinking the night before and the guy in charge stayed even after the guy who showed up left. This guy eventually said he was going to go to the main office(The Ugly Oyster... the bar they had been drinking in the night before) to find a different contact number for the guy in charge. 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment, there was still no one there. As we were pulling out to go to Schuylkill River Outdoors (which we had been to previously and really enjoyed), the first guy came back and said that when they called the guy's house, his wife didn't even know where he was. COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Almost ruined our entire outing... thank goodness for the awesome people at Schuylkill River Outdoors.
I did this last summer and it was terrible. The meetup spot was a broken down factory building and we got dumped off by some trash. This is not scenic. it smells and there is a lot of trash. We are instructed to get off when you see "the tire hanging from the tree". Blahhhhh!!
Booked a trip with them through Groupon, and was never able to get a hold of the people that run this. The phone number listed on the web site is disconnected and they never reply to email. No idea how the river trips are and I will never find out, not ever going to try and do business with them again.
