I've been using Priory Avenue surgery for me that 12 years and don't know why it's under special measures, I've never had any problems with the staff or service I've received. In fact I have no complaints at all. Sadly the surgery is closing on 30th June 2018.

Awful, can't get an appointment except for 2-3 weeks later. The doctors seem to have very little time for you and are uninterested in your actual problems. Some are also clueless about your illness despite there being detailed notes on the system. Since going on special measures the surgery hasn't improved at all but got gradually worse.

It is not too bad at all. I had most of my pregnancy tests done here and also general health care here. Whenever I was in a bad enough condition and qualified for any treatment I received decent treatment. This surgery is no better and no worse than any other NHS I have experienced. The problems people mention are common for NHS. I have moved to London now and London NHS is absolutely worse, they give you cold hearted face let you wait for a few hours despite you are the only patient in the waiting room. Reading hospitals and Reading people in general are just better warmer and actually bother to smile. The one star taken off is not just for this branch it is for all NHS: they believe in- we won’t do anything unless you are extremely sick and almost dead. this general rule of nHS is horrible, it allows health issues develop quickly without care, a lot of the times if something was done at an early stage it wouldn’t get to it’s worst, they just want to cut cost and wait until you are at your last stage then do something emergency and keep you alive(but suffer) and claim they do their job well because you are still breathing. Hospitals should not operate like this, they can not just be a place to keep patients barely breathing, they should be treating people to prevent their illness from quickly reaching to the life threatening stage. If you only do the job as quickly bring dying people back to life, then that’s just A&E, you can pretty much cut off everything else and save money.

This surgery is staffed by some of the worst the NHS has to offer. My wife has been prescribed drugs that she is allergic to, been told her problems are not important and sent out crying. This is from a practice that states it is compassionate and chairing. Currently looking at alternative surgery a in the area. Avoid if you can.

Would just like to say that having been a patient at priory ave since as long as I can remember 63yrs old. That I have never had any trouble with doctors or reception staff. Dr ford who I see now is without doubt one of the best I have seen in that time. He explains evevry thing and if not sure refers straight away . I felt obliged to write this review after all these negative views on doctors and nurses and staff .Dont people realize that they do a very hard job in ano win situation. (Cant please everyone) !
