I would not recommend Halfords, I had an MOT 6 months ago by someone else, headed to Halfords for a service and they managed to rack up 600 worth of work to be done. For the record I only drive to the gym, and to do my food shop, I had no advisories on my recent MOT, I did not accept this and left for a second opinion, most of the suggested works did not need to be done, and I would make the assumption because I am a woman they thought I would just pay 600 a few days before Christmas, I’d also like to mention that their prices are not the best either, there is a centre a few roads away that offer 4 tyres for the price Halfords asked for, for two. Do your research and if in doubt take your car back and ask for a second opinion.

I have book a free exhaust and catalytic convertor check at Halfords. They checked it and said I need to change the EGR valve on my car and they quoted this for 737.89 which would include about 5 hours labour and the actual part. I went to another garage where they found the same problem and quoted it for 400-500 depending on the part's price. I think Halfords is overcharging their customers.

Usually have my MOT done here, as they are always very courteous and extremely helpful. Prices are competitive and they have never tried to 'pull a fast one' and sell unnecessary extras, unlike a poor experience I had at one of the other large chains when it suddenly needed new brakes, discs, etc. Online booking is also fast and easy. I will be returning!
