I was here for like two weeks and it was hell. Also, I hate that I live like 3 minutes from this hell (I could walk there if I wanted to). I now live in fear because I live so close to here. The Workers - everyone who worked here was a jerk. One time a security guard told me to shut the f*** up or he would make me. That was bad. The workers mocked the patients and belittled them. They had no respect and they were awful. The Patients - well, what else do you expect from a mental hospital. Patients here cursed a lot, constantly had tantrums, and were just flat out scary. Cleanliness - it was a germ pit. I don't know why, but during my stay like 15 people threw up (and little effort was made to clean it up...they just cleaned it up with paper towels). I have severe emetophobia, so this was traumatizing. Things to Do - no games, crafts, music, electronics, TV, or anything really. You can sit there, read, or color. Food - every meal I had there was inedible. It was that or nothing, so I had to eat their food. I begged the Doctor to let me leave, but he was frustrated and continued to tell me that he controls that, and in his words, \you ain't going nowhere\. Don't go to this hell.

Stay away from these people at all costs. My own doctor said I did not need to go into the mental hospital for an \evaluation\ but Mobile Crisis and Assessment threatened to have me involuntarily committed anyway. So I had no choice but to \voluntarily\ go to WakeBrook or face the threat of having cops with guns drag me there. I spent the whole afternoon and evening getting strip searched, having my clothes rummaged through and cut apart with scissors, sitting in a waiting room with people spewing word salad, before I was finally relased BECAUSE I DID NOT NEED TO BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. Like many mental health professionals, these people have zero respect for patients and WILL TREAT YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

This is a place to shut up and lock up political agitators practicing their right to freedom of speech and who dont agree with the Government.

Extremely rude staff... They just want your money here... The state of NC needs to do a better job in getting people better mental health treatment

Horrible place! A guy there offered me electroshock therapy and a guy named Dr. Zarzar sexually assaulted me. I complained to their hotline and they did an in house investigation and Zarzar was in charge.
