Established more than 173 years ago (1847), this temple is not very well known since the township of Papan is hardly on the map since tin mining activities were exhausted decades ago. Everyone travelling to Ipoh should make an effort to detour to this quiet and peaceful township Guan-yin temple. No words are sufficient to describe the beauty and intricacies of the carvings inside. One must see them with your own eyes in order to be marvelled. Seeking blessings and saying prayers at one of the oldest Goddess of Mercy temple (the other older Guan-yin temple is in Pitt Street, Penang-East 1728) will be worth the price of a slight detour from Ipoh.
