Took my 11 yr old daughter yesterday to A & E due to concussion. The nurses despite it being v busy were awesome with her and Sarah the Doctor was amazing. Fantastic experience .
My wonderful 85 year old mum spent 8 weeks on the respiratory ward during 2019. Individually the nurses were all lovely and supportive. However there were some issues during her time there that concerned me. In particular her final couple of weeks before she died. I raised concerns that my mum's condition had become severally worst overnight. The doctors would not listen and stated that the issues were due to my mum becoming depressed. My mum arrived at the hospital as one of the happiest and bubbly human beings. It was clear that my mum was not depressed and that she was dying, within 2 weeks she was gone. The weekend before she died we asked for the on call doctor to visit my mum as it was obvious that she was deteriorating however the doctor could not be bothered coming out to see her. My mum was left in her chair in a coma and not one person/doctor did anything until I pushed the issue. I was then told to prepare myself for the worst. My mum was then dead within 24hrs. I have very mixed feelings of my mum's time at POW. In summary although the nurses were lovely the standard of care at times was shocking. We are now left without our mum who deserved better.
