Lovely staff but not impressed with the size of barrat homes and what you get per square metre for the price. I am single now with kids who have now flown the nest so was looking at a two bed. That soon sprang to a four bed house, not for the bedrooms but for a house that did not open straight into a living room. Even a three bed house is not providing good layout and the rooms are miniscule. I have noticed major resale in this area up to ten k less than current property on sale. Incentives are not there. This was a semi rural area. Yes close proximity to the m6 but out of the twenty plus developers in the area barrat need to step up in both price, outdated layouts. My home I currently reside in that is now 20 yrs old was bought as a two bed new build. I have four off rd parking spaces, was able to extend my home. My home was freehold and this is something I would be very wary of with the leasehold properties on offer. New buyers please be careful. Read the t &c very carefully. Equally the kitchen quality, may look nice but mdf will not stand the test of time. Also consider so called detached houses and look at resale older homes. I know as someone with a maintenance contract company. Barrat are scratching within millimetres of the legal distance between you and your neighbour. It is very doubtful you could add any value to your home and I worry about first time buyers. These are not homes for life you can extend on. If you do purchase make sure that you get the option to purchase the freehold but also consider that such small gardens will be lost if you do extend. Don't be afraid to get a deal or you may soon be in negative equity on what is mass suburbia. These houses are staged for selling. In reality and having brought up two kids consider older houses in areas that are well and truly established and have infrastructure already in place.
