Sunrise Staffing was under contract with Orange County for a minimum of 3 years. The contract states that employees shall be paid holidays. Employees where not paid holidays and told that it’s not in the contract with the county. Employees were told to enter hours worked on holidays onto different days of the week on the time sheet as “make up time”. Employees were also told to sign a waiver to forfeit overtime pay. I personally worked every single holiday since August 2014 and should receive holiday pay. When I asked the agency this is what I received: “Please accept our apologizes for the discrepancy regarding your holiday pay. Our goal at Sunrise Staffing is to act with integrity in all of our dealings with clients and employees. I have copied the CEO of Sunrise Staffing to this email to assist with a prompt resolution to this matter. We are conducting an investigation to determine if you worked the dates listed and if so was it authorized by your departmental supervisor and the accounting department at Orange County. The investigation may take up to (3) business days to obtain the necessary documents. If you are entitled to holiday pay as mentioned in the contract we will reimburse appropriate pay upon completion of the investigation. Thank you for cooperation and I look forward to a resolution with this matter.” I did not receive an answer from the agency or my holiday pay. Orange County assisted in the matter as far as they were able to but the issue is between the staffing agency and me. Needless to say I am not the only one with this problem.
