The Blaxland Inn is in a central location of the Hunter Valley, on the main road leading to the centre of Pokolbin. It is housed in a country style house with inside dining and also space out front (covered). It is classified as Modern Australian, but could also be referred to as a steakhouse / bistro / Brasserie with homely meals from pastas to pork belly and steaks. The atmosphere is casual and the service super friendly and efficient. The manager Kylie served us, and was outstanding at her job. She recommend our wine and it was a quality drop. It is super busy and booked out for the evening, so if you plan to go, be sure to book for dinners. They offer three different steaks and we order the Rib eye 200g. Streaks come with a complimentary side dish (we chose the steamed veg) and sauce (we had mushroom). We also had a fresh salad with roasted pumpkin, beets and tomato as well as their incredible corn bread. Served as muffins, this was warm and had a nice sweet corn taste to it. Drink wise, there’s plenty of wines, beers and ciders on the list. If you’ve been on wine tours all day and you’re planning on a drink or two more, they’ve also got a courtesy bus, just be sure to book.

Food was great. Wife had Pan fried fish(salmon) and I the Chicken supreme. Just delicious. Staff very friendly. Nice setting.

Food was ok. However a couple of points to note. In times of covid, my cup was dirty (I asked for a clean one and all good). Chef didn’t adapt to dietary restrictions (for example: didn’t want to remove sauce that contained garlic, when I’m intolerant to garlic), it’s their right of course, but it made choosing from the menu a bit more difficult. Had to order salad with chicken, I’ve had better. Chips on the side were a bit heavy, not sure about the oil they used. They caused us tummy ache at night.

So it was a birthday lunch. 7 people we sat late due to people at out table but once there dri ks and food order was great helpful waitress and very nice in approach. Food is exceptional from salt and pepper squid to cornbread to galric prawns all had great taste and cooked beautiful. Steaks cooked to exactly the order taken couldn't fault anything on the day. From food to service was amazing well recommended.

One of the best dining experiences in the hunter valley. 10 stars for the food and service. Will be back to eat my way through the entire menu

Dinner off to an exceptional start. Highly recommend the Kilpatrick, wings, arancini and cornbread. But it all unravelled with our mains. We went from taste sensations to average bistro meals. Service was friendly and efficient, but there are better places to go.

Food was lovely but serve was very slow. Said the place was booked out for lunch on the door..lucky we booked.... We were there from 12.30 till 2.30pm and place was about 1/3 full. So don't know about the booked out. We did see ppl walk away when they come to the door from the winery next door as we were sitting outside.

Great place to come for a feed whilst at the Hunter Valley. Famous for their steak and it did not disappoint. Everything is well priced and presented nicely.
