A long overdue revisit to this Pizza Express in Stanmore. I was very impressed with the way they have ensured social distancing here. All staff were properly wearing their masks, covering both nose and mouth. Each table had an extra side table where food is served and plates collected so waiting staff don't come over your shoulder to serve and collect. You are advised to use your phones to scour menus using a link (or better still a QR code) shown on each table. Then there is a bit of confusion on whether you order on your phone or with a waitress: the table instructions state on the phone but staff tell you it's in person. For us, direct to the waitress was preferable once we'd selected or items on the phone. Seamless service thereafter, as ever, though of course, they continue to be short staffed (as they used to be even before COVID) so after there are more than 5 tables, you see service slow a bit. After 8-9, it's drifts into unreasonable territory but thankfully we were done by the time this happened. All in all, a good post-lockdown experience.

Nice place in Stanmore to have pizza and catch up with family and friends. The place tends to get busy at times so you may need to pre book and the car park at the back can get full quickly too. Staff are friendly and polite. The food was tasty as well.
The chef refused to make a vegan pasta. There is no vegan pasta available on the new pizza express menu. Pizza and the salted caramel ice cream ordered didn't taste that good. Salted caramel ice cream tasted different to the previous one that we have had at pizza express. Service wasn't great. They were very busy on a Wednesday night. We were told that we only had the table till 7pm as it was reserved thereafter but at the same time we had do wait for a while before we were attended to. In the end we must've left the table at around 7.30pm. We were also told that they only take a taste card with a bar code otherwise they do not accept. But not all tastes cards come with a physical card. There are a lot of online memberships which do not come with a bar code and they only come with the membership number in the app. Whole experience was very disappointing and unsatisfying.
