I personally have spent the past fifty years with type 1 and seen amazing improvements in treatment but also waiting for a cure. Having recently seen Dr. Gittes research there could be real hope in the near future. I have started sending donations for his department knowing that it won’t be soon enough for me but in the hope that my grandson Tyler who was diagnosed last year won’t be looking for the same thing fifty years from now?

His education has provided him with a unique chance to help millions suffering with a horrible disease, Type One Diabetes. This is an autoimmune disease, that forces the body to attack its own insulin. Average life expectancy, undiagnosed, at onset is only 15 months. Dr. Gittes is working very hard on a unique genetic therapy that will help find a relief from the millions of injections that Type One Diabetics MUST take in order to survive. With Big Pharma raising the price of insulin to skyhigh levels, some Type One Diabetics are forced to choose between food and their life sustaining medicine, right here, in America!! Hopefully, he can solve the maddening puzzle, known as Type One Diabetes!
