Pleasant stretch of meadow and woods with mixed use footpath running alongside the Mersey that makes up part of a longer footpath from Widnes to Hale. Plenty of cyclists, families and dog walkers (dogs allowed off lead) and can be quite busy. Has a visitor centre with cafe and birdspotting notices but that has not been open during Covid. Car park and pretty accessible for wheelchairs etc although a a moderate slope or two. Duck trap and hide at the far end near the somewhat fragrant waterworks. Spring and summer are my favourite times here when the meadows are packed with wildflowers. Dropped a star as it can be busy and the mixed use path is pretty tight for all the users.

My favourite place for solitude and quiet reflection. Would be nice if the cafe was open more, even just for info and tea & coffee

A hidden gem at the end of an industrial road. The River Mersey opens out into a huge basin, of such diverse vistas. The two Bridge Crossings, Silver Jubilee bridge a 1960s achievement of being the highest arch in Europe at that time, to the Mersey Gateway a sleek modern crossing looking like a huge sailing ship from a distance. On the opposite banks the industry now a shadow of its past where once the chemical industry spewed its waste into these waters. How heartening to see the river reclaimed..(after decades of pollution)..by the wild life a safe haven for so many species. Visited a few times, although we have walked the same path it is never the same with the changing skies and light a nature lovers and dog owners little bit of tranquility.

This is a really lovely little spot. Great views out over the estuary. Nice little adventure for kids to scooter / walk from the carpark up to the bridge and back. Good spot for running, dog walking and blackberry picking too.
