Great food. Good price. Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable service. An Italian run by Italians. 15 years ago this was my favourite italian in Colchester. Having not been for years its changed hands and decor and has become my favourite restaurant in Colchester. I wont be waiting so long to return this time.

My friend and I came here for lunch on the strength of the good reviews, and what a lovely experience it was. The owner was so accommodating and so friendly, it really was a pleasure. Food was excellent, the antipasto misto in particular very tasty and generous. Pasta dama Bianca was delicious, fresh and well-seasoned. When I wanted to try some of my friend's smoothie, I was given a separate little sample; and likewise we were given some of the homemade cake to try before we ordered. This too was lovely, the perfect end to a great meal -- not too sweet, delicious with warm cream. Altogether, we had a great experience at Piccolo's and would happily recommend it to anyone! So friendly, everything truly flavourful, generous portions, and well-priced. Because everything is made fresh, it can be made to your preference -- I look forward to trying the mushroom bruschetta! Thank you!
Lovely little italian restaurant. We were met by the most cheerful and happy woman, gladly serving us and explaining whatever we wondered. The food was very tasty, with good value for money! There was a relaxing sofa section upstairs, perfect for post-dinner chill. The woman even came up to serve us cool water, how relaxing! Much recommended
Love this place!! Me and my partner popped in around 3pm for a late lunch. Upon arrival, the owner of the restaurant was so friendly, warm and inviting to us - the atmosphere was the same, calm and collected, cosy and quiet. Our food was beautiful, authentic, homely Italian cuisine and we could've easily had three more helpings. The dessert was to die for. Will 100% be returning when we can- it was a wonderful place to eat on North Hill - not far up the hill either, which is definitely a bonus! ;) Can't wait to come back!
