They prioritize profits over patients. Rules are inconsistently enforced. The covid protocol is laughable. People get kicked out for drinking, yet they can stay if they’re actively using hard drugs. The focus is on people with addiction issues. The mental health patients are shuffled around and go to what’s essentially AA. My conditions felt like an after thought. The rooms are overcrowded and people laugh when mask concerns are brought up. There were regularly more than 20 people in a group. Due to limited space, everyone sat next to each other, leaving perhaps 2 feet between patients because there was nowhere else to sit. The glorified AA group is stressful because a few patients treat it like social hour and talk constantly and laugh while the rest of the group tries to process their issues. I got stuck in the recovery group because I was assaulted by someone in the PTSD group. I told the staff I didn’t feel safe constantly, yet my medical records only say that I refused to see a substitute therapist. It’s laughable that there’s no record of my legitimate concerns. The good therapists all leave. Don’t waste your time and money here.

Personally, I had a great experience here. A few times too (6 or 7 years ago). The staff was always friendly, as well as the doctors. I was actually treated with respect and my needs were always met. Rooms were clean, cafereria food is amazing and I always felt very safe. The activity rooms and gym area are also a plus. I definitely recommend this hospital over Aurora and Oasis. I obviously hope to never return but if I had to, this is my #1 choice. I'd also recommend any friends or loved ones.

My husband just wants help and instead every thing they donor don't do triggers his ptsd. This place is just like a military care facility, zero personalized care, not taking into account what the patient needs, and holding them there against their will. My husband said \it feels like prison!\ Don't go here if you need ment health care. Because of this place my husband will never seek medical help with his ptsd again. Shame on you Valley Hospital and your terrible care of patients.
