This is the church I always hoped to find. They say, “no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here” and they really mean it. They love you just as you are with no intention of making you into anything else. No pressure, just love and beloved community—in my humble opinion, that’s what church was always supposed to be! I’m so glad I found First Church!

What a great service! And the congregation is intentional in its diversity, authenticity and its ministry to the community! A church that truly walks the walk as the feet of Christ. Thank you for the open and welcoming response we received there! Keep up the good work!

Good intentions, but unfortunately they are making the area unsafe. The church seems to let homeless gather and sleep on the property all night, nothing wrong with that, wanting to help those in need. For quite a long time, the people that would sleep here at night in front of the building were good people down on their luck. They'd be quiet at night and keep to themselves. They just wanted a place to sleep without being chased off. In the last week or two, those good people have been run off by the local crack heads. The church has now become a safe haven to hangout for crack heads who come and go on bikes all night long. They stay up all night yelling. I used to be able to walk by and have a nice chat with someone. Now walking by entails getting yelled at by drug users. I feel bed for the people who used to sleep here, where did they go? Again, I can appreciate the good intentions, but the situation is not good.

There are so many good things about this church. They are an open and affirming church to anyone. I love that they allow groups like trans spectrum of arizona to host their events in here. I also love that they host meals for those who are homeless. It is a great place.

All though I have not been to this church yet, I am largely basing my experience on this church with my experience with the UCC church in Huntsville Alabama. I had previously been a member of a very large, non-denominational church, that I thought was really good and christ-like, but I found out after about 5 1/2 years, that they were very conservative and very constraining, and I left. I was looking for a church that is more like myself that is very Liberal and loving, that defends the same things as I do (women's rights and the LGBTQ community), I found myself right where God wanted me to be. I'm glad that he led me where I am because there are no better people on the earth than my UCC church family.
