I was born with a rare platelet disorder and so was transferred to CHOP to be diagnosed. My family has always considered ourselves lucky that Dr. Poncz has essentially known me since birth. My parents always trusted his advice because they knew he kept up with current research/ studies, and because he always erred on the side of caution in my early years. My parents, and then I, took many preventative measures per his recommendations, and as an adult I've learned on my own how valuable it is (and was) to have a hematologist with a good grasp of my disease. He also clearly worked hard to be accessible/ reachable. I always felt well cared for, and that was thanks to his knowledge, experience, and the personal attention he gave me.
