Bodegas Protos Reviews | Rating 4,4 out of 5 stars (6 reviews)

Bodegas Protos is located in Peñafiel, Spain on Camino Bodegas Protos, 24-28,. Bodegas Protos is rated 4.4 out of 5 in the category winery in Spain. The history of Protos dates back to 1927 when 11 vine growers established the “RIBERA DE DUERO” winery, with a progressive vision to prepare quality wines with a commitment to brand value. Ninety years later, this spirit not only lives on, but also flourishes year upon year. At Protos, we have always taken pride in our roots, using only our native variety, the Tempranillo, and in 1982 allowing our brand “RIBERA DE DUERO” to be used for the recently established Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. Today Protos is the leading winery in Ribera del Duero with 4 wineries in Ribera del Duero D.O. and one in Rueda D.O. and clients in around 100 countries, we continue our international growth with the help of a solid distributor network and in-house staff in the main international markets including the USA, UK, Germany and Asia.

Very interesting tour and excellent wines to taste at the end. I felt the marketing videos at the beginning were a bit too much, but overall very good.

Lovely bodega! Our tour guide Raquel did a fantastic job explaining the wine process and showing us Protos. As the tour continues you really get a sense of the effort that goes into making a great tasting wine.

Nothing distinctive about the tour, the two wines to taste at the end of the tour or the two other wines I bought to take with me. Not a complete disappointment though, they have a very distinctive chocolate bar - recommend the chocolate.

Big Wine Cellar full of great red wines... Try to take the tour through the Cellars.

Founded in 1927 at the base of Peñafiel Castle, this winery was the first in the Ribera del Duero region, though it has since been updated with an addition by Richard Rogers with stunning arched terracotta roofs !!!
