We had a brilliant time in Pets at Home with our 10 week old border collie puppy Willow. The staff were amazing & so helpful. I had to carry my puppy because she only just had her jabs. But I also had my 3 year old son. Everything was perfect. I am amazed how helpful they were. Gave me really good advice and help. Even things I didn't know about being a first time dog owner.
Pets at home carries a wide range of products for most pets and these are generally good value for money, especially if you have a loyalty card. My disappointment is that very small or very large dogs they have very limited stock. In our family we have a poochon (registered cross between bichon fris and a poodle, 5mth and weighing 5kg) and a German shepherd (thorough bred, also 5mth but 25kg). For example, comfortable fold up travel or sleeping crates. Whilst there are very knowledgeable and competent staff, some are confident but, in our experience, lack knowledge. For example when asked about suitable foods, the response was we buy from reputable companies and we wouldn't stock them if they weren't. On further questioning about percentages that didn't give the totals expected, it became clear that some staff had no idea that during 2019 and recently (Sept 2020), the FDA required several hundred recalls of popular brands. They contained excessive amounts of Aflotoxin that is very harmful to humans and dogs. Other directives for known cancer inducing agents containing unsafe levels had been distributed to UK and other countries. Try using a search engine, the number of companies involved is alarming. But I guess cheating the public in this way makes greater profit? One super service at Pets at Home is provide by the well-trained and experienced grooming staff. At very reasonable cost!
