Me, my husband and two dogs had an absolutely FANTASTIC weekend break at this awesome hotel. The location is stunning, step out of the hotel front door and you can head to the fells. It really is a hikers paradise. We enjoyed two days of fantastic hiking even in the pouring rain the views were magnificent. The hotel is lovely inside with traditional mixed with modern aspects. The room was perfect and extremely clean with all the facilities you'd expect. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was spot on. All members of staff were very friendly, welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. I can not fault our stay at all and can honestly say this is my favourite hotel. So looking forward to visiting again soon. Many thanks to all the staff.

Lovely place in a great location, clean and tidy. We stayed for 3 nights, our room wasn't quite decorated to the same standard as the rest of the place which was fantastic but it was fine all the same. The breakfast was great, good choice and plentiful as was the daytime menu. World certainly recommend and happily stay again.
4 of us had a delicious pub lunch here yesterday - huge soup (fresh tomato) and chunky sandwiches with the tastiest of fat chips. All very tasty, especially the soup, and welcome after a lovely walk from Aira Force. Found this pub by chance last year - off the beaten track but well worth a visit. Returned tonight for dinner and were not disappointed . Our party of 6 had soup ( carrot and corriander), crispy king prawns, pate (chicken and tomato - unusual but amazing), lamb kofta followed by lamb shanks, sea bass, chicken curry and fish and chips. All absolutely delicious, large portions and served hot. We couldn't manage dessert! Lovely welcome, especially in these strange times but pleased to support a local pub. Service was first class from a very hardworking young lady who ably covered the bar and served tables. Highly recommended. Thank you to everyone at the Royal.
Just had an overnight stay at this spotlessly clean hotel. All staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely gorgeous, great choice to chose from, freshly cooked breakfast. Will definitely visit this family hotel again
Nice sandwiches and chips. Quite a good English winter menu. Good covid precautions.
