When in Sandwich I always try to swing by Papas as it's one of few chippies in this area that uses boxes instead of paper wrapping. It's great because you don't have sweaty soggy fish and chips when you get home. Chips are always great too. Also in the warmer months of the year its nice to take your chips across the other side of the road and sit on the river bank to eat them. Lovely!

Some of the best chips I have ever had! Super yummy, with fabulous views over the river and the P22 decommissioned USN River vessel. Huge portions and lovely staff.

I went to Papas this evening for fish and chips and with noone waiting I ordered just a couple of things. I waited for ages as two lots of people came and there telephone orders were put together. A third ordered person arrived and I felt quite ignored. Once I got my food I went to eat it really looking forward to my first fish n chips in ages. So disappointed, chips were OK but not much salt and vinegar on them even though I had asked for lots. But the fish was awful. Old dark old batter which had gone soft and had clearly sat around for a long time. I ordered medium and it was small at best. Sorry but the girl serving was not particularly interested or friendly. Really disappointed as I have had good food in the past. Doubt if I will go again. If you are going to put locals first then you should at least let the customer know there will be a wait and not just ignore them
