The caretaker was very accommodating. We learned a lot about the church and the bell's history.
I visited Panay Church also known as Sta. Monica Parish Church this year's Holy Week season. The Church is historical and a national treasure that in-houses a lot of antique images, tableaux and the biggest bell in Southeast Asia. There's a tourism officer based in the Church who accompanied me to the belfry wherein all the original bells were hanging. He's adept in conducting orientation about the history of the place. Well done and thank you. Beside the Church, the replica of the biggest bell in Southeast Asia was built.
The walk up to the bells is well worth the trouble. I was told that the main bell was caste from silver pisos that were melted down a long time ago. Of course my wife could have been just telling me a story to get me to look at the bells. See for yourself if you cam go there.
The biggest bell in the Philippines is located here.
