Paul has been teaching my son Sol since he was about 6 I think (he is 9 now) and he really loves it! Paul is a great teacher - really really good with kids. We live quite a distance away but it is well worth it. Cheers Paul

I had started playing drums on my own on a not-so-regular basis for 2 years before I came to Oxford and I decided to take classes to see some better progress. It has been 1.5 years now since I had my first class with Paul, and I could not be happier about the time I have had with him on the kit. Paul is patient, nice, and fun; he teaches a mix of music theory, technical exercises, score practice (with interactive developments), and general knowledge on the various genres played. The program is not predefined, it is tailored to our needs... and it works. Definitely would recommend.

Paul is my favorite drum teacher in Oxford, despite the fact that I had to bike 8.5 kilometers and up a 100-meter elevation to reach him! I tried taking lesson's from various teachers in the Oxford area, but Paul's lessons were the most fun, engaging, and flexible. Aside from being a charismatic and funny guy, Paul is genuinely involved in every aspect of the lesson, and he is a very knowledgable drummer. He always presented various perspectives and methods to the subject at hand, and had a lot of great out-of-the-box teaching tools to help me learn particularly tricky techniques. He also pays good attention to proper technique, so you don't develop bad habits early on that would be a pain to fix later. I love his studio; he has the student play on a real acoustic drumset while he sits right next to them on a practice-pad kit so you can watch and mirror him when he's showing you how to do something with the correct form. He also uses some really nice speakers to play music so the student can practice observing the drum-beats in various styles of song, and practice playing along to great tunes to have fun at the end of a lesson. Paul has a good balance between leading and letting the student lead. When I first showed up and had no idea where to start, Paul quickly determined what skills I should practice. If I ever wanted to try something or was interested in a certain type of music, Paul would adapt the lesson around it. If you're like me and would have to bike really far... Do it! You'll get in great shape, it'd be like getting drum lessons and a gym membership all in one! Not to mention there's some great scenery along the way. Peace -Luke
