Oxford Russian Club is located in Oxford, United Kingdom on 1 Canterbury Rd. Oxford Russian Club is rated 3 out of 5 in the category language school in United Kingdom. The Oxford Russian Club or Oxford Russian Society was founded as a self-governing organisation by Prince Felix Youssoupoff in 1909, while he was a student at University College. Our association has played host to Russian ambassadors, members of the Russian Imperial and British Royal families, accomplished figures from the academia and the arts world, British ambassadors to Moscow and senior diplomats, political figures such as Boris Nemtsov, Anatoly Sobchak, Sir Brian Fall, Ksenia Sobchak, Oleg Gordievsky, Boris Berezovsky, Grigory Yavlinsky, Leonid Kravchuk, Boris Pankin, Sir Malcolm Rifkind and many others. We welcome non-Russian speakers, as all of our events are bilingual. The Oxford Russian Club is one of the most vibrant student societies numbering about 300 active members and having behind it a long and successful history. In early 1950 our at-the-time-president Michael Glenny started stating that "the Russian Club has no axe to grind", leading to the first official declaration of the Club's political non-alignment doctrine in Hilary of 1951. This doctrine remains as resolute today as it was in 1951; our sole aim being the promotion of Russian culture and language within the University, and the fostering of ties between our members and Russia.
