I’m pretty sure this is the first review I have ever written. I called Owens’ midday on Tuesday to place an order for thanksgiving dinner for my family. They told me my pickup time would be 6:15 pm on thanksgiving day. When Thursday afternoon rolled around, we decided to call and ask if we could possibly pick up earlier. They said not only no, but to the contrary: that our pickup time had been pushed back from 6:15 to 7, and to call them back at 6 to make sure it would be ready at 7. When we called back at 6, we were told our food wouldn’t be ready until 8 pm. Now, I pride myself on being a very polite and understanding person. I am kind to everyone. But who would feasibly be willing to wait until after 8 pm to eat thanksgiving dinner?! We were hungry! I had to cancel the order. This food was just for me and my significant other. Imagine if I’d been hosting a large family?! We didn’t have a backup plan because when you order two days in advance and pay over 100, you don’t really think you need one. For a restaurant that’s been in business as long as they have, I think it’s reasonable to expect that they know their capabilities and therefore don’t overextend themselves, especially on a holiday. They should have told me they were no longer taking orders when I called on Tuesday. I would totally let this go on any other occasion, but this was thanksgiving, which we did not get to have because of Owens’ irresponsibility.

Excellent service and our dinners were delicious. We felt very comfortable dinning at Owens during these very difficult times
We go to Owens every year at least 1x when visiting the outer banks. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. It is still family owned and operated. The deserts are all made on premises and they never rush you. This is not fast food restaurant so be prepared to be pampered and serverd for about 2 hours. Prices are but worth every penny. A tradition of theirs is hush puppies and a basket of crackers with cheddar cheese before dinner. A must go to when visiting the Outer Banks. Handicap parking and seating.
We had THE BEST experience eating at this local favorite. The hostess was the sweetest and sat us in a nice spot that made it easy for us to enjoy dining while socially distanced. We had no trouble finding something for everyone, the portions were more than filling, the seafood was cooked perfectly with flavor (and I’m super picky about my seafood), and the dessert was wonderful too. We found the pricing to be just fine. Such a relaxing place! We will be back next time we are in the area!
We ordered the Turkey and Ham curbside takeout meal on Thanksgiving and it was superb! Everything was well prepared and delicious! We especially enjoyed the tasty extras that were included. Outstanding job!Owen's remains our favorite!
