This quirky spot is a family favourite for us. The kids love dashing about the sculpture park and having a hot chocolate or ice cream depending on the weather. The team have added a children’s play area recently, which has been great fun. The grown ups enjoy the delicious food and lovely shop. The Christmas shop is always a particular highlight. The staff are invariably friendly and helpful (including when I keep forgetting my membership card...). Would recommend taking a look when lockdown restrictions allow.

My first visit to the British iron works was a revelation, it was not what I had imagined it would be. It was so much better, the grounds are huge and the sculptures are the stars, but you walk in and you normally have to pay at the entrance, but no not here completely free for your enjoyment. If you want a great day out and somewhere you can take the children, then make a sure you visit the British iron works and you will not be disappointed and you will be able to find a wonderful gift for a loved one.

We visited for the first time just before the start of the pandemic, it was a lovely experience, fabulous art work, the shop cost me a lot of money so many lovely things to buy and reasonably priced. The day was finished off with a lovely meal in the cafe, we had our dog with us and we were allowed sit in the conservatory to eat. There will certainly be many return visits when allowed.

Been here on a couple of different occasions the last being just before Christmas to do a little bit of unique gift shopping and as always it didn't disappoint. When we visited the shop and sculpture park was fully open. To start with the obvious the place was set out in a covid safe way with one way systems and sanitizer stations set up. The main reason for this visits was for my little boy to show mum Spiderman and bumble bee. Well that's what he thought, it was really for us to get a few last Xmas gifts. At the time of our visit they had a massive sale on so we managed to pick up a nice selection of glass and concrete garden decoration. The items we purchased were a steal of a price and went down a treat on the big day. ( Glass fairy bird feeder and a concrete fish) We will be back again no doubt for the kids and us tofully walk the sculpture park or maybe borrow the golf Biggie for that extra bit of fun and games.

All our visits to the iron works over the years have been great, from the location, staff, sculptures and especially the food, it’s all amazing. My mother struggles with her mobility these days but the ironworks is set up amazingly for people with these issues. She’s previously organized a trip for one of her groups the Good Companions to go for an afternoon. Always such a welcoming experience. Once we are somewhat open again after national lockdown this is one of the first places I will take her to, as it’s so open with lots of outdoor space that she would feel confident and at ease. I personally can’t wait! Mrs C Wood.
