Beautiful restaurant. Felt so special to be in the oldest functioning establishment in Oslo. What a treat. The food was delicious. I had the game tartar and the lamb. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a great place for special occasions. I will definitely be back.

We ordered king crab and cured reindeer for starters and they tastes really good. Veal and reindeer for main. I have has reindeer in Sweden Iceland and Norway, only in Norway reindeer tastes a bit gamey. But still pretty good food and we are satisfied.
Excellent food at Oslo's oldest restaurant. Loved their reindeer steak and their whale starter is an experience. Will go again when I'm back in Oslo!
I’m reluctant to give a review of this place, as I want to keep it for my self.. Simply a place for good food, great hospitality, beautiful surroundings and good value for money. Recommended!
There are numerous reasons Engebret deserves five star rating. First, on a nice day, the view outside is lovely. You can take in some historic architecture and watch the people passing by. The food was very good and the best part is their beer. You should definitely try their own brand of beer. Its very refreshing. Lastly, the staff is extremely pleasant.
Really enjoyed having dinner at this, the oldest restaurant in Oslo. I booked ahead online, and received a confirmation. The rooms inside have so much character, have just have to see them. Meals were delicious, with the taste of northern Norway appetiser giving me a few new taste experiences. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Such a charming little café that's very historic on the inside and you'll never guess from the outside. I had the seafood soup, fish and yummy dessert here..would recommend. The fish soup was one of the best I've had'
