Originator Studios is an 800 ft2 operational soundstage located in East Austin. Short and Feature Length Films as well as Music Videos and more have all been shot here. The studio is also a group VR Arcade where groups up to 12 can play VR in a group setting. Think of it as the Karaoke room of the future! The studio was taken over by Derek Gildersleeve and Willie Rockefeller in 2016 and the two have been interested in new ways of inviting the community into the film, photo, and VR world.

I shot a video at Originator and it was an amazing experience. The green room has plenty of space to prep costuming or hair/makeup, and the studio is fully equipped for anything you might need. I've shot in many studios across Austin, but Originator is by far my favorite and the best experience!

VR ARCADE EXPERIENCE REVIEW-- A group of friends and I went for a birthday and had an absolute BLAST! They had a good selection of games to chose from and the host was so helpful and friendly (I never did quite catch his name!!)! I will definitely be coming back for more in the future. A big thanks to our gamer host for giving all of us the best first experience in VR gaming! We really appreciated all you did for us!

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and we absolutely loved it! It’s by appointment only so we were the only people in the building besides the guide. Brian was super nice and knowledgeable. The games were so fun! I loved Beat Saber and my boyfriend really liked Arizona Sunshine. They also had a Rick and Morty game that I thought was super cool. Definitely recommend a visit. Don’t bother reserving only one hour.. definitely do two!
