Here's the deal. Anything Oral or Maxillofacial related can be a very tough and expensive surgery. Dr. Untrauer and his team are skilled and leading edge in their practice. They were very straight forward about the process and risks, plus they went above and beyond pre and post operation in my care. I would never want to have to get surgery again, who does, but if I did, Dr. Untrauer would be my pick.

Wonderful experience. Nurses are great. Dr. Desa and his residents were professional. I had a pain free experience. Would recommend

Nurses are great and wonderful as well as Dr. Desa. Very professional and knowledgable. Only disappointed in the after math of my oral surgery. I needed 4 wisdom teeth taken out; two of which were 50% inside my gums still. I extremely disappointed that I was not given any kind of pain medication and was only asked to take over-the-counter Tylenol and ibuprofin after having my teeth broken inside my gums just to get them out! I shouldn't have to take 12 pills in a single day just to manage pain when 2 prescribed painkillers would have worked just fine. I even called my nurse Michelle twice days after my surgery and both times I got to her voicemail. I have had oral surgery for getting teeth removed at Oral Surgery Associates and they prescribed me painkillers for having 4 teeth removed just as they did at UNMC. Tylenol and Ibuprofin have NOT worked and I am stuck using the ice/ hot pads for relief. Would NOT recommend UNMC Maxofacial Surgery for your teeth procedures if you are a minority. I truly believe that I was discriminated against for my nationality being Native American for 1.) I don't have a \high pain tolerance\ and that myth hasn't been confirmed as false and still continues to impact the care POC recieve in the medical field and 2?) My nationality deems me more susceptible to abuse prescription drugs even though my health history has never indicated any mental illness or abusive history with any substance.

Dr. Desa is knowledgeable and friendly. He has a great bedside manner for children and adults alike, as both myself and my daughter are his patients. I also appreciated that he suggested waiting to remove teeth (as suggested by our Orthodontist), as they may well come out on their own! We will gladly come back if in need of other Oral and Maxillofacial surgery!
