Updated modern and extremely friendly (locals?) pub. Instantly welcomed by who I can assume is the gentleman who owns the place. Would highly suggest as a completely different scenario to the general feel of Oakengates; it's out of place but in a good way. Was initially looking for food, but decided to remain as killing time and despite being on my own, enjoyed the easy-going atmosphere.

Good beer good service what's not to like Best pub in Oakengates
Great visit to the Old Fighting Cocks pub. Easily accessible from the station, and next to two other great pubs make this a good choice for a few beers. The pub is a Rowton brewery pub, who make a range of different yet excellent ales. Also available are a changing selection of guest ales. We had a friendly welcome and had a good chat to some locals too. Well worth a trip.
