If the Genesis Health Clubs organization takes over your local gym get ready to see a rapid and steady decline. I lived through this when they took over the 24 Hour Fitness locations in the area and now here at the Prairie Life/The Athletic Club location on Alden. Maintenance and repair of equipment is an afterthought. Genesis took this gym over after The Athletic Club completed a quick-flip remodel and installation of new equipment. No we have torn/worn pads on equipment, broken mirrors and actual holes in the walls.

A great selection of cardio machines and enough for the volume of people. Free weights and machines to build muscle. Spacious locker room with steam, sauna, and hot tub to relax after your best effort.

This facility is half the size than what 119th was. When I first joined the gym, I joined 119th the super-sport level because of the size, and hours of accessibility(24hrs), crowd, and equipment then it went to genesis and then it finally closed and we were made to move locations. Here not enough area room to workout even during the down period. Too many teens....on equipment, I get it, it was an athletic club, and maybe it's just the highschools surrounding the area. Never understood the shortened hours on the weekend. I am assuming the hours changed due to covid, but there are other facilities that close at least an hour later, they should all be universal. There is no 24 hour facility in the kansas/olathe/overland park area. There should be at least a good sized gym, in the kansas/op/olathe area, that is 24hrs and does not require the customer to have to upgrade and pay more just to have access to it. Missouri has two 24 hr facilities that I know of. Overall the staff is great.

The staff are always so helpful going out of their way to be sure I have a safe and effective workout. Jane’s yoga class is the best. She knows everyone by name. During the pandemic the class had a virtual happy hour on Fridays to get to know each other better and support each other.

Good facility. Sauna and steam room are in the respective locker rooms. Hot tub(coed) is by the pool. I haven't been in it but heard others say it's not very hot

Not a fan. It was dark, lots of burgundy, beige and gray. Not enough windows. Seemed tired and a bit run down. Needs a total remodel. I don't think it is the motivating environment I need. :( People working out next to eachother with no masks. Nope

Clean place, friendly staff that isn't pushy and plenty of equipment. Equipment is well maintained. Prices are very competitive if not actually better than most gyms. They did great coming in and cleaning up from where Prairie Life was deficient.
