I’m extremely disappointed in the Outpatient Surgery, my 7 week old son was scheduled for surgery on 1/28 and I was called on 1/27 to verify all insurance after speaking to the lady I asked her if my husband would be allowed with me because I was extremely worried about our son being put under and could really use his support. She informed me of the Covid policy of 1 parent but said I could request for my husband to be with me because our baby was so young but to just call and ask Outpatient Surgery to go before a board of people to see if my request would be excepted. I spoke to someone and was told that since it wasn’t open heart surgery and just a quick surgery my husband couldn’t be with me ( very inconsiderate thing to say) even spoke to Barbara her supervisor and was told it’s policy. I wasn’t even told by either that my request could go before a board to be heard. I would’ve canceled my son’s surgery but unfortunately the only doctor that does this kind of surgery is at OU Children’s. Hopefully they can train the staff to be more considerate and understanding. I’ll never willingly go to this hospital for anything.
Took my daughter to the ER for severe hives and allergic reaction. It was the WORST experience ever. We set waiting to be seen for almost 4 hours. Finally went to the check in desk and told them we were leaving. The lady at that front desk was nice and she went to go talk to a Dr to tell them we were still waiting. I told my daughter whom was absolutely miserable and tired that we would wait 30 more minutes. 30 minutes came and we were on our way out when a Dr finally came to us and stopped us. We were finally put in a room at almost 1am (which I might add was far from comfortable) Our nurse was sweet and helpful but that was it the Dr came back for maybe 5 minutes during our 3.5 hour stay in this room and was never seen again. They gave my daughter an Epi shot which did not help her at all and so then they the offered her a Hydroxyzine which she had already taken and obviously did not help. After being here for 7 hours my daughter was in no better shape than when we got there. They let us leave and she was still having an allergic reaction but I guess since she could breathe and was able to swallow it was no concern of theirs. Conclusion: She ended up the next day back in the ER with swollen eyes, face, hands and lips but believe me we did NOT go to Children's we went to the big Baptist and she was admitted to the hospital for 24 hour observation.
This is the best Children Hospital in OKlahoma state. Here in this hospital, two of my friends had thier kids. They were happy about the customer service they got. The staffs are very helpful. The doctors are very knowledgeable and qualified. The doctors are attentive to patients problem and give enough time to patients.
All the doctors and nurses were great they made me feel so safe. I knew that if anything were to happen they were all on the same page about what I need they had great communication between themselves at every moment shift changes someone new checking on me it really made a huge difference for me to see that. They took into account all my preferences and really made this terrible situation a lot easier for me. I’ve never seen such great communication between a work staff and never felt so comfortable and trusting in their effectiveness and attention to detail.
