Small museum that does a really nice job of walking you through Andersen’s life. You get to appreciate the grit and resolve with which Andersen overcame all the adversity he faced as a child to achieve greatness. You also get to see the full range of creativity Andersen demonstrated in addition to his writing. Finally you get to learn about his complex personal relationships. Allow about 45-60 mins for a visit.

This is a must visit place for everyone who loves H.C. Andersen's books and also for those who just want to know about his life. A lot to learn about.

This museum was somewhat underwhelming. I was very much looking forward to visiting this museum as Hans Christian Andersen's stories made up a big part of my childhood. While there are a number of displays on Andersen's life, I thought they could have been more interactive or elaborate rather than just few personal articles. I also felt that there could have been more information on some of his more famous work, such as history, inspiration and cultural impact and so on. Compared to some of the other museums focused on a specific artist, this one was a little weak. For me this attraction falls under the skip category.

Nice museum that talks about the history of the author. A local legend.

Disappointed. The museum is quite small and most of the exhibition relies heavily on visitors reading captions, mainly in Danish, English and Chinese. So the whole visit is an hour-long continuum of reading and reading. There is almost no other mode of experience which activates other senses and visitor-interaction is non-existent. The content is mostly about Andersen’s life instead of his works, which is strange if you think about it. I would only recommend the museum if you’re passionate about Andersen’s biography, history and literature. You will definitely be disappointed if you are expecting extraordinary experiences and retelling of the Ugly Duckling, the Princess and the Pea so forth... The lady in the reception is very nice though.

Very nice museum, depicting snipets of HC Andersen's life, with interesting facts, pictures and paper cuts done by the famous story teller. This is a first stop out of a 5 museum network dedicated to the life of HC Andersen.
